Rationale

I am running for a seat on the school board because I have dedicated my life to education and consider it an essential element to the success of our communities and beyond. I believe that our families and communities deserve the best possible education for our children. As a parent of three children in North Polk Schools, I understand the importance of an educational system designed for all students, staff, and families to thrive. Our schools are the keystone of our communities. When they flourish so do our communities.

Developing strong relationships between our schools and the broader community is an essential part of successful growth. I want to establish deep connections with city governments, chamber organizations, families, and local businesses. My goal would be positively influencing the development of opportunities and funding streams related to our district. Paramount in doing so is the expansion of the board from five to seven members with the opportunity for representation across the district.

Our schools are partners in building strong moral character, critical thinking, and academic excellence in every student. My deep knowledge and understanding of comprehensive education systems would be an asset to our growing district. As a school board member, I will advocate for a comprehensive education that honors our rich history of success and existing curriculum while also adopting innovative programs. Our students need diverse opportunities to develop the critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and creativity necessary for our rapidly changing world. Students deserve access to a variety of opportunities and choices for their futures. Our families deserve continued access to and transparency in communication from the district about opportunities, choices, and instruction impacting their students.

As a teacher, school administrator, and education consultant, I have seen the importance of having qualified teachers who receive the resources and support they need to help students thrive. Supporting policies and practices that attract and retain the best educators is paramount. We need to ensure our district staff continue to be supported and see growth in their salaries along with other opportunities. I will work tirelessly to improve infrastructure, enhance technology, and ensuring that students and staff have access to the resources necessary for their success. This includes teacher and student advisory members that have direct communication the School Board.

I am committed to creating excellent education opportunities for all students while advocating for proactive growth. I will bring my passion, experience, and commitment to the school board. I thank you for considering me as a candidate and look forward to earning your vote.
